How to Market Your Business Using Social Spaces

SocialSpaceMarketingI see so many people trying to market their business online using social spaces.  Many have come to me saying “Social space marketing doesn’t work for me!”  I look at what they are doing and think “It’s no wonder it’s not working”.

If you’re sick of struggling and trying to figure out what the heck you are supposed to be doing to actually make money online, I have a solution for you!

About 6 months ago I did a three week webinar series on Social Space Marketing.  We covered the basics of Social Space Marketing and then went more in depth on Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter, Blogs and Forums.

I’ve decided to offer this course at a HUGE discount over what it originally sold for.  The specific examples may be different because social spaces evolve, however, all of the concepts and strategies are still valid today.

Go here and get the course at a huge discount.  (Discount ends at midnight EST on Friday, October 25)

Enjoy!

Can Relationships be Formed Online

I can’t tell you how many times recently I’ve heard “You can’t create relationships on the internet. You have to do that face to face.”

About 10 years ago I would have agreed with you.
Maybe even 5 years ago. But…times change. We live in a different world now than we used to. Many people are working from home. They don’t commute to a building where they can meet others around the water cooler and chat. (OK…gossip…either way…) Facebook and twitter are the new water coolers.

I can remember a time, about 10 years ago, when I would go to the store in our little town, my husband could pretty much count on the fact that I would be gone for at least an hour to go about 2 miles down the road, grab a couple things and come home. What in the world took so long? I was chatting with people. Catching up on what had been going on in their lives and catching them up on me. Today, everyone is in a hurry. They are rushing from here to there and there to there. Very few people have time for face to face chats anymore. We get updated on what’s going on in our friends’ lives via their facebook status updates and their tweets.

Heck…my mom lives in Montana and I live in NY.  I see her once a year if I’m lucky enough to have her fly home for a visit.  But…we are closer now than ever.  We keep in touch long distance via facebook, email and phone calls.  She moved to the middle of nowhere when the grandkids were all very little (some weren’t even born yet).  They now range in age from 12 to 22.  They all have a relationship with their Grandmother.  Even though they rarely ever see her.

I have  a very good friend who lives in Washington state.  She has been there for me through thick and thin.  She knows things about me that no one knows.  I met her online around 2005.  I met her in person just three times.  She’s like a sister to me.  Our relationship began as a business partnership and evolved into a great friendship.

Another friend I met online helped my family find a place to live when we decided to move from NY to KY.  I had met her in person about three times prior to that.  Our relationship was formed online.

Now…do I suggest that you send your life savings to, or agree to marry, someone you met online and have never met in person?  Absolutely not.  You must use your common sense.

I do, however, know that people join in business people they know, like and trust.  Can that know, like and trust be formed on the internet?  YES…absolutely!  However, it only works if you are open and honest.  If you are feeding people a line, most will see through your BS.  Oh sure…you may get one or two who fall for it, but the majority of people…the ones you really want on your team…will see right through any shenanigans you try.

Bottom line…be honest…be real…be genuine and you can form relationships with people over the internet.

What is Your Money Mindset?

I was talking with a friend the other day and I couldn’t believe the conversation. She had seen my posts on facebook and on my blog about making money from home and wanted to know more. I explained to her that she has a lot of great things to talk about when we talk, so she could write those things in a blog and share her posts with others and begin making money. We will teach her everything she needs to know once she gets started.

She asked “How much money can I make?”

I answered “As much as you want. It’s entirely dependent on how much you put into it. This is a business. It requires real effort to earn real money.”

She said “I don’t know. If I make more than a couple hundred a week I will lose my food stamps. Do you know if I will be making that?”

I said “You know…on second thought…this probably is NOT for you”

I was flabbergasted!! Lose food stamps??? HELLO??? What is wrong with society these days? This person is afraid to make money because she will lose the handout she’s getting?? Don’t get me wrong… food stamps are there to help people when they are down. But…they are NOT meant to be a lifestyle. That is possibly the most ludicrous statement I’ve ever heard in my entire life!

My good friend Kim Klaver and her empower network earnings check

Where is your money mindset?

Are you stuck in poverty mode?

When you hear of the big income earners, what is your reaction? Do you think “I could never do that” or “That must be a lie” or something like that?

Or do you think “YES…now I know what is possible in this company!!”

Your mindset will determine where you go from here.

This photo shows my good friend Kim Klaver holding a check representing her $62,500 2nd quarter earnings for 2013 from Empower Network.  Your results may vary.  Results are dependent on effort, mindset, and many other factors.  See income disclosure here.

Empower Network vs Level One Network

I’ve been approached by reps of both Empower Network and Level One Network recently.  I see a lot of Empower and Level One reps posting on facebook, twitter, pinterest, etc…

I decided to take a glance at both companies.  They both claim to have a blogging system that gets indexed into the search engines quickly and easily.  So…me being me…I tested that theory.  I went to Level One Network’s home page and picked a couple of the bloggers on page one to test with.  I also went to Empower Network’s facebook page and couple of the more interactive people there and went to their blogs.

So, at this point, I’m using two random blogs from Level One and two random blogs from Empower.  This should be a fair test.  I looked for posts on each blog where the titles had nothing to do with either company.  I know that when I write a post, I can generally google the title within hours and have it show up on page one of the results.  When searching for the titles of these four blogs, I found something very interesting.

NEITHER the Empower blogs nor the Level One blogs were showing up on page one of the results.  What I did find is a bunch of Level One reps bashing Empower on their blogs and on social spaces.  I also found that every blog from each company looks just like the other.  I always say “Brand YOURSELF…not some company”.  With these companies, however, in order to take advantage of their search engine positioning (if they really have any) you must have your blog be TheirCompayURL.yourusername.com  You are not really branding yourself, you are branding THEM.

What is looks like to me is the reps from each company are competing with other reps from that company for the search engine results when people search for the company name.  However, posts about something OTHER than the companies aren’t even on the radar.  Maybe later down the road I will be able to do more research and have something concrete to report for those of you who want a blogging company like this that works.  SEO is not a “set it and forget it” thing.  It takes work to get your blog to page one of the search engine results.  It doesn’t happen overnight.  Whether you are using a blog from one of these companies or your own blog, you need to do the work.  Just like I taught in my blogging courses, there are a number of things you need to do to get listed in the search engines and maintain those listings.

Maybe one of these companies can make it a bit easier, but I don’t see it at this time.  I was actually hoping that I could promote one or the other of these systems to my readers who don’t want to start from scratch.

The opinions here are MINE.  They are opinions and my personal conclusions.  I did not do an in depth study, just took a cursory look based on the claims of both companies.

I will review more when I have more time.

UPDATE – 7 minutes later, MY blog post (THIS ONE) was listed first on page two of a google search.  Very interesting.  Page 2 of about 5,530,000 results. (Click the image below to see full size.)

Just 7 minutes after writing my post, I was ranking high for my post.
