How Dare you, Phil Robertson…

PhilRobertsonHere are my thoughts on the whole Phil Robertson interview thing.

OH…MY…GOSH!!!

An actor has an opinion.  WOW…who woulda thunk it?

A&E is all up in arms over his statements.  But…doesn’t he have a right to make them?  We don’t have to agree with the statements.  We don’t have to even watch Duck Dynasty if that’s what we decide.

Let Phil stay on the show.  Let the public decide if they want to watch or not.  But…when networks start censoring what actors can and can not say, they end up being the “bad guy”.

All they needed to do is put a disclaimer at the beginning of Duck Dynasty saying “The views of this show or it’s actors are not necessarily the views of A&E”.  Done…  no big fuss.

It’s been said there is no such thing as bad press.  I have to disagree in this case.  I think this is a huge negative on A&E.  Probably a good thing for Duck Dynasty and Phil Robertson, though.

Now…with that said…

I am a Christian and I don’t agree with Phil.

OUCH…WAIT…don’t throw the rotten tomatoes yet!!

As Christians, we are to strive to be “Christ like”.  I honestly don’t believe that Jesus would spew hatred toward ANYONE.  I have many friends who are GLBT and I couldn’t imagine being hateful toward any of them based on their sexual or lifestyle preference.  That’s crazy.

Now…let’s say that I believe being gay is a sin.  The Bible tells us not to judge.  It also says that there are no “degrees” of sin.  There is no sin better or worse than another.  It also says “We have ALL sinned and fallen short of the glory of God”.  Not some of us.  Not most of us.  ALL of us.  So…if there is no degree of sin, and we are not supposed to judge, why should a Christian spew hatred toward anyone for their lifestyle?  Or anything else for that matter.

Let’s band together as Christians and show “sinners” (again…EVERYONE including us) that we are not the hypocritical, judgmental, horse’s ass that many Christians are being on this matter.

Do People Really Make Money in Network Marketing / MLM?

The only people making money in MLM / Network Marketing are the ones who know how to market & sell.

The majority of network marketers buy product every month, go on conference calls and attend company conventions, but they are not making any money.  They don’t PRODUCE!

WHY?  These people want to be part of something.  Part of a community.  The problem with most MLM communities is that the majority of the “heavy hitters” will give you strategies but will never tell you everything you need to know to be successful.  Face it, in most companies, it’s better for them if you produce, but don’t hit it out of the park.

Then you have the  people who will tell you “It’s not selling, it’s just sharing products with others.”  and “It’s like recommending a good movie, book or restaurant.”

HELLO?  If that’s the case, why do people drop out of MLM but don’t stop recommending good movies, books or restaurants?

Systems are Important for Marketing Online

Over the years my business has evolved.  My goal has always been to help the most people possible make money and have successful businesses.  The problem I ran into is that I love working one on one with people.  When I do courses or generic trainings, I don’t feel like I’m thriving.  However, when I do a VIP day or work one on one with my Elite coaching clients and see them succeeding, THAT is my personal fulfillment.  My personal happy space.

What I’ve found is that most people are scared or just unable to make the financial commitment it takes to join the Elite coaching or schedule a VIP day.  So…I began looking for a system I could plug people into that was in line with what I teach.

Many of you know that about 6 or 7 years ago I worked with a wonderful trainer named Kim Klaver. Some time ago, Kim approached me about a new affiliate marketing company that was just getting started that had the systems in place I was looking for.  However, I wasn’t in the right frame of mind to hear it. Many of you know I was involved with a “system” for quite a few years and ended up getting burned pretty badly. I wasn’t interested in promoting anyone’s “system”.

I did a lot of research and ended up joining Kim in Empower Network Here’s why:

1.  You can use Empower’s blog & training to promote your current business.

In other words, this system is “stand alone”.  It’s not connected to any MLM other than it’s own affiliate program so you don’t have to worry about anyone trying to funnel you into their deal.  There is no conflict with your existing company.  You are not required to sell or promote anything Empower.  You pay for the blogging platform (EVERYTHING is set up for you, you just blog).  You pay for the training.  I’ve gone through it.  These guys are brilliant and have some of the best training for the masses.  (Of course, you could always sign up for a VIP Day and my monthly Elite Coaching instead if you want.  😉 )

2.  You can use Empower’s blog & training to promote EN’s products and services.

Only if you WANT.  This is definitely not a requirement to use their system.  However, if you want to make 100% commissions when someone purchases their own system or training, you would want to be an affiliate of EN and promote their products.

3.  Use Empower’s blog & training to train your downline.

The training for marketing and everything is right there.  Just plug them in and off they go!

What to do if What You Are Doing Isn’t Working

Many times when building a business, we get stuck in a rut.  We keep doing the things that our upline or the trainers we listen to tell us work.  But…it’s just not working.  People aren’t buying.  They aren’t signing up.

It’s a viscous cycle that so many entrepreneurs are stuck in.

Listen to upline or trainer calls  ==> Do What They Say & Have Minimal Success ==> Listen to more upline or trainer calls ==> Repeat

Are you stuck in a cycle like this?

When we get stuck in life, it’s important to interrupt the pattern.  Break out of it.  Break free.

Go back to basics.

What do I mean by that?

Sometimes we just need to wipe the slate clean.  Forget about everything we’ve learned so far and go back to the basics.  Many times, we THINK we are implementing what we learned, but in reality, we’ve put our own twists and spins on it over time.  I can’t tell you how many times someone has come to me after going through one of my trainings and said “I’m doing everything you said and it’s not working”  I go to their social space profiles and they are doing one or two things I said, but everything else is going totally against what I teach.

You can’t do it half assed.

If what you are doing isn’t working…go back to basics and start over.   When someone takes my training I tell them to forget everything they have learned so far and everything they have been doing.  Once we have a clean slate, we can move forward properly.

Are you ready to go back to basics?
