There’s an old saying - “If you can’t stand the heat, get out of the kitchen.”
This applies to blogging also. If you want to ask your readers for their OPINIONS don’t expect that every one of your commenters will be of the same opinion as you. AND - if one of your commenters does disagree with you - welcome that as a chance to have a mature debate. Notice I said debate, not argument.
As most of you know, I teach classes on social networking and blogging. One of the many ways that I teach you to get traffic to your own blog is to find other blogs to comment on. That way readers of that blog will come visit yours if they like what you have to say.
I have about 50 blogs in my feed reader. I glance through the new posts daily. If a post gets any kind of reaction from me, that’s where I go and comment. One blogger recently has taken offense to my opinions. She’s even taken to attacking me, making her look even more ridiculous.
I get in mature debates all the time on blogs. Most blog authors love it because it brings traffic in. I’ve made quite a few new friends all over the world by having mature debates with people. Three or four of them have actually called me from overseas to say they respect my opinion even if it differs from theirs.
I’m not going to link back to the offending blog from here because I don’t think the blog owner deserves the traffic. Suffice to say I will only comment on blogs where the owner is mature enough to welcome the traffic that a mature debate brings to a blog.
I’m done ranting. Moving on.

You teach great strategies in language everyone can underrstand. If people get offended they must not be paying attention.
I appreciate your teachings and your blogs.
And especially the great RANTS. If your example was smart they would play off your comments for
blog post.
I hear controversy create traffic. Whether it’s good or bad traffic I’m not sure.
Keep up the great work.

Quite honestly, Roxanne …
If there was an award for mature debating, you’d most definitely get my vote. Of all the professional network marketers I know, you’re the ONE person I appreciate getting on a soapbox! As a matter of fact, I’d be proud to stand next to you.

Hi Roxanne,
This seems to go right back to the issue you had with the HP Support center. It’s all about mature communication. How can anyone in MLM or any other form of business expect to retain credibility if they insist on behaving like 5 year old children?
I appreciate you,
Bill Tessore

I think it’s great to debate. And it’s too bad that people can’t just debate, instead of starting childish arguments.
Also, thanks for stopping by my blog!
