It’s been about a month since 6 year old Isabel Celis went missing from her Tucson AZ home.  Police have released the tapes of the 911 calls and, frankly, I’m disturbed by them.  I just listened to them on Fox News’ site.  We never know what the media edited out of these tapes until we can get access to the full, unedited versions.  However, in my opinion, it’s not what the father, Sergio Celis, says on the tape, but rather the WAY he said it.

Picture this…your 6 year old child is missing.  You’ve searched everywhere for her and she is nowhere to be found.  I have two children.  I know the fear that runs through you when you can not find your child.   My son used to disappear in a split second and end up hiding somewhere.  Every time the fear just grabbed me and didn’t subside until he was found safe and sound.  As a matter of fact, as time went by, the more I searched, the more panicked I became.

So…when you hear Mr. Celis’ call to 911, it’s very concerning.  It actually gave me goose bumps.  He is very calm like it’s no big deal.  At one point he is even LAUGHING telling the 911 operator that he told his wife to “get her butt home” and laughs.  Then he seems bothered that his wife walks into the house hysterical.  I listened 3 or 4 times thinking that maybe he’s just nervous and being very composed, but there is NOTHING in his voice to even indicate that he cares that his daughter is missing.  It’s like he’s completely detached from the situation and even appears (IMO) that he is reading a statement.

In sharp contrast, when mom, Becky Celis, calls 911, she is hysterical.  She is distraught, incoherent at times and even shrieking during the call.

How can these two parents have such drastically different reactions to the disappearance of their daughter?  One acts like it’s no big deal and even appears (IMO) to feel llike it’s “no big deal”.  The other is hysterical, wants to find her and distraught that she doesn’t know where her baby girl is.

Arizona Child Protective Services (CPS) has said that Sergio Celis can have no contact with his other children.

That is very unusual.  The police, however, have cautioned the public not to read guilt into that.

In the beginning of this case, my thoughts were “Stop focusing so hard on the family and go look for the person who kidnapped this child”.  Now I’m wondering if my gut instinct was wrong.

It’s Monday again.  I get to see all of my facebook and twitter friends complain (starting Sunday nights) that today is Monday and they have to go back to work.  I can’t imagine going to a job anymore.  I have been blessed to work from home while my husband has needed me due to health issues.   I’ve been blessed to work from home while my children were growing up so I could homeschool them and be here for them when they needed me.  I’ve been blessed to be able to sleep until I wake up on Monday mornings (and every other morning for that matter).

Don’t get me wrong…it has NOT always been easy and my family has struggles just like any other family.  Working from home is NOT an answer for all of your problems.  It is not right for everyone either.  It is, however, a great way for you to alleviate some of the financial burden and a way to control your own future.

Many companies are even finding that they get more productivity in less time when they allow their employees to telecommute.  Why?  Because when you are paid based on productivity instead of hours you go to a physical building,, you tend to get more done in less time.

When to stop breastfeeding is a highly personal decision.

I was appalled that Time Magazine decided to feature a mom on the cover who was breastfeeding her son, who appears to be about 4 years old.  Don’t get me wrong…I’m not against the mother breastfeeding this child.  I am against the photo on the cover of the magazine.

The mom supposedly did this to draw attention to something called “attachment parenting”.  Take a look at the cover and tell me if this mother and child appear to be attached in any way OTHER than his mouth on her breast?  To me, the photo does not depict a loving, attached mom.  She (and the child, frankly) appears rather UNattached.

If you want to breastfeed your three, four, five, six, seven year old, that is YOUR business.  But…you do not have to do it in public.  By two or three years old, a child is old enough to understand that they would have to wait a few minutes to get “fed”.   If your child is older than two and you are using this “attachment parenting” excuse to continue breastfeeding, go to a room by yourselves and bond with your child.  Your child is NOT getting “attachment” by having a boob stuck into his or her mouth in public.  That is not a bonding thing.  It should be a private time between mom and child, not a public spectacle.

When you breastfeed a baby, you hold them and nurture them.  You don’t stand them on a chair and stick your boob in their mouth.

The Cloud or Cloud Computing is not a new concept.  It is just recently becoming more prominent.  My number one advice to computer owners is to get an external hard drive.  An external hard drive allows you to store all of your important files on it.  In the event of a computer crash your information stays safely on the external hard drive.

In very simple terms, The Cloud acts like an external hard drive.  You do not, however, have a physical external device attached to your computer.   You can access The Cloud from any computer, anywhere you are.  I can’t recall the number of times that I’ve been out at doctor appointments or sitting in waiting rooms somewhere with my laptop and wished I had a file from my external hard drive.

Had I stored those files on The Cloud, I would have been able to access them anywhere that I had an internet connection.  I would not have had to wait until I got home to access the file.

I remember 20 years ago, my daughter was just born, my son was a year old and the internet was dial up. AOL…that was THE internet provider. I got internet and very few of my friends had it. They didn’t want it. They didn’t know about the power of the internet. People thought it was just email. And that’s about all it was used for back then. The average person did not have an email address. These days, everyone has one and most people have a social networking account or two.

The internet is the new local corner store. Gossip and recommendations for products or services used to take place mainly in person. Now they take place mainly on the internet. If you want to recomment a product or service, you “like” it on facebook or review it on your blog or tweet about it. If you want to know what others think about a product or service, you “google” it, you ask your twitter followers about it or you ask your facebook friends about it.

Then, if you like a product or service based on what you’ve read, you can even BUY it on the internet.

This eliminates the need for a LOT of physical jobs. Not to mention the fact that there are way more information products these days than there were in the past. People are paying for information, training, and knowledge to better their lives. Schools and colleges are not teaching entrepreneurship. Well…some are, but not many. But, being an entrepreneur is the only way to have a secure future. It’s the only way that YOU can be in control of YOUR future.

It seems that every time Zimmerman or his family opens their mouths, the lies just spew out.  George Zimmerman had a website put up where his supporters could donate money to his defense.  When he and his family were questioned by the judge about their financial situation, they all (father, mother and wife testified UNDER OATH) claimed they were indigent.  They claimed they could not afford a large bond.  This information was taken into consideration when the judge set the amount of the bond.  The bond was set at $150,000 knowing that the family would have to come up with just $15,000 (10% of the bond amount).

What George Zimmerman AND his fammily failed to disclose is the fact that his “The Real George Zimmerman” website took in over $200,000 in donations.  This money was in a paypal account for Mr. Zimmerman to use.  This fact would have weighed heavily on the amount of bond set by the court.

At that point, the family had already used a portion of this money (they say a small portion) for “living expenses” so they knew about, and had access to the fund.  Yet, they still said nothing to the judge.

This reminds me of the woman who won the lottery and continued to collect welfare because she had no job.

What is it with this family?  Are they a family full of pathological liars?

What are the options at this point?  Well…the judge basically has 3 options.

1.  He can revoke the bond all together.  I don’t think he will do this because Zimmerman is entitled to bond in this case according to the law.

2.  He can raise the bond.  I think this is what the judge will most likely do.  He set the bond based on testimony under oath that was untrue.

3.  He can leave the bond as it is.  It is entirely possible that the judge may choose this option as Zimmerman is already out on bond, however, this case is so high profile that I don’t think he will choose this option.  I could be wrong, but…

The more I hear about this case, the more I am thinking about these charges that were placed on George Zimmerman in the Trayvon Martin shooting case.    There are a lot of people who say Zimmerman was overcharged.

Let’s look at the definition of second degree murder.

second degree murder n. a non-premeditated killing, resulting from an assault in which death of the victim was a distinct possibility.

Unlike first degree murder, second degree murder does not require premeditation.

So, what will the prosecution have to prove?

First, they will have to prove that there was an assault.  It really does not matter who confronted whom.  The 911 call with Trayvon wailing for help proves that Trayvon was being assaulted at that point.  You don’t wail like that if you are the one doing the assaulting.  George Zimmerman attempted to claim it was he who was wailing for help, however, two expert voice analysts disagree.  They say it is not possibly Zimmerman’s voice.

Second, they will have to prove that the death of the victim was a distinct possibility.  When the gun was pulled out and the trigger was pulled by Zimmerman (which is not in dispute), the death of the victim was a distinct possibility.

Basically that is all the prosecution has to prove to convince a jury to convict Mr. Zimmerman of second degree murder.

In conclusion, it is my opinion that the prosecution did not overcharge George Zimmerman.  Had they charged him with FIRST degree murder, that would be an over charge.  But, second degree seems appropriate in my opinion.
