Do You Have an Internet Presence?

Go to http://www.google.com and type in your name. Do it now. I’ll wait.
OK – you’re back. What did you find? Were you right there on the first page? Were you the first result? Maybe you didn’t show up at all.
If you are doing business and want people to take you seriously, you must have a presence on the internet.
According to the Nielson Company, more than 80% of Americans now have a computer in their homes, and of those, almost 92% have internet access. 92% and rising. You will have a hard time finding someone who does not have internet access available to them. Almost all public libraries have free internet access.
When people hear of a product or service, they go to a search engine like google, yahoo, msn or any number of others and search for the product or service. They do the same for companies and individuals they are contemplating doing business with.
Many people are trying to build network marketing businesses, but have no internet presence other than their company provided site. I see many people who are trying to sell a product or service through a static website. They wonder why their website doesn’t show up when someone searches for that product or service.
Search engines don’t like static websites.
It takes a long time and a lot of work to get a static website (one that does not have new content being added on a frequent basis) into the search engine results. Your best bet is to have a blog. Search engines LOVE blogs (if they are set up properly). Blogs will get listed with the search engines a lot quicker than a static site. I’ve set up a blog and had it on the first page of google search results within a week.
You must structure your blog properly and post often. This will help you have an internet presence and boost your credibility with potential customers and business partners. When you talk about your product, service or business with others, they will search and find your blog. If you give great, informative information, YOU become an expert. You become the person who has credibility. Others will take you seriously because you will appear serious to them. If they search and don’t find you, they will look for someone else. It doesn’t matter if you are a plumber or a tutor or a network marketer or a seller of widgets, they will move on and look for someone who appears serious.
If you’ve “googled” yourself and you do not show up within the first 5 results in google, I can help. Email InternetHelp at roxannegreen dot com and put “I need your help” in the subject line. Be sure to include your name, what you are doing for a business and what you’ve done so far. I will get back with you within 24 hours to see what I can do to help you.
