I Did Not Want to Do This

HI - Nice to see you again. Have you sent any greeting cards recently?

custom greeting cards

I swore to myself that I would not talk politics on my blog. HOWEVER…This Presidential race is getting ridiculous.

On my myspace profile, I titled this:

This is not a Pro-Obama post, but an Anti-Stupidity post

When you go in to vote next week, vote based on FACTS and not on mudslinging lies.

I’ve heard two stories over and over again in emails and in person recently.

========================================

Story #1 – Barack Obama wants to change the flag because he changed the flag on his plane.
http://www.factcheck.org/askfactcheck/did_obama_replace_the_us_flag_on.html
and
http://www.snopes.com/politics/obama/airplane.asp

The flag originally on his plane was the North American Airlines LOGO – once he became a Presidential candidate, he could no longer use their logo. He replaced the tail flag with his logo and replaced the North American Logo with the American flag by the plane numbers.

=========================================

Story #2 – Obama wants to change the National Anthem

BS again – here are two links to the REAL story.

http://www.factcheck.org/askfactcheck/did_obama_say_the_national_anthem_conveys.html

and
http://www.snopes.com/politics/obama/stance.asp

This was a new columnists attempt at a joke. To quote FactCheck. org

“the joke is the message falsely quoting Obama, and it’s on whomever is gullible enough to believe it’s true.”

==========================================

There are quite a few people whom I USED TO consider to be pretty smart people that are spreading these lies and more. We are NOT going to become a socialist nation if one individual gets to be president. Haven’t people ever heard of impeachment and checks and balances???? Go back to elementary school. We are a democracy and always will be.

I don’t give a hoot WHO you vote for. Just make sure on election day you are making and INFORMED and EDUCATED decision. Don’t make it based on crap being spread around in emails and on the internet. Go do the research yourself. FactCheck. org and Snopes. com are two unbiased sites that simply report the facts and have been doing that for a long time. Go there and get the real stories. THEN make a decision. Stop being a blind follower. If you are reading this, you have internet access. There is NO REASON for you to not do a little research and find out the TRUTH about both candidates. Grow up and be adult and stop the mudslinging. We get enough of that from the candidates who want to run our country.

If Obama gets elected, you can thank all of the McCain supporters who are slandering Obama. This is the year 2008 and anyone with a computer can look up the FACTS for themselves and see that McCain and his supporters are lying. THAT is why he’s losing in the poles. That is why I have no idea if I can stomach voting for a man who will not even think twice before he stands up in front of God and the whole country and LIES about his opponent.

This is surely one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever had to make. BUT, my decision will be based on FACTS, NOT LIES. Please let yours be too.

If the slander keeps up, thank everyone passing along this junk. They, along with McCain and Palin, will be the reason Obama becomes the next president of the United States.

I will get off my soap box now.

My Babies

Cheaper Than Therapy

My Babies

Yup – A picture IS worth a thousand words.

This is a rare photo of my teenagers getting along. Or at least my son attempting to tolerate his “little sister”.

They are 11 months apart. They are the same age for 13 days so you can imagine how that goes. All I hear for that 13 days is my daughter saying to my son “I’m the same age as you!!!”

These two are my life. They are my inspiration. Right now they are both in NY (we moved to KY from NY about a year and a half ago). Katie is visiting and it looks like Mike is staying. He has a job up there doing sandblasting and is loving it. He’s 17 now and she’s 16. They were both homeschooled most of their high school life. They didn’t fit into the little box that the schools create for the “perfect student”. As a matter of fact – thank goodness that box wasn’t around when I went to school or I wouldn’t have fit either. They are both WAY outside the box. But they are great kids and are going to make a couple pretty awesome adults.

They are the reason I work from home. I wanted to be the major influence in their lives. Selfish? Maybe. But they know they can come to me with anything no matter what it is. Sometimes they share things that I don’t want to hear, but I’m glad they feel comfortable enough with me to share them. But at the same time, we’ve got a balance. They know I’m MOM and I will put my foot down if need be.

Empowering Women for Success

I’m part of a great group of gals over at Moms Town. Internet support is wonderful, however, I love meeting and masterminding in person. As most of you know, I moved from NY to KY a little over a year ago. I’ve made some friends here, but don’t really know a lot of people. What I’m looking for is a small group of women in the Elizabethtown KY area to get together with and mastermind. This group is part of the Moms Town Alliance.

MomsTown is dedicated to helping entrepreneurial moms save money and time. MomsTown is also committed to helping moms grow their businesses.

Our local group that I am starting – Empowering Women for Success – will follow this same philosophy.

This group is for any entrepreneurial woman who is searching for success. Even if you don’t know what you want to do yet, join us. You do not have to be a mom to join. This group is open to any woman in the Elizabethtown KY area.

I look forward to meeting and masterminding with you!!

Plagiarism – How to Avoid It

I just read an article over at eHow about how to avoid “unintentional plagiarism”.

Check it out. There’s a lot of great stuff there.

Everything Happens For A Reason

I am so happy. I am a firm believer that everything happens for a reason. We’ve been wanting a place where the dogs don’t have to be fenced in or tied up. I’ve always wanted a wrap around porch. We’ve always wanted to live at the end of a long dirt drive. We found the PERFECT place. If the landlord where we are now had brought the lease with her when I gave her the first month’s rent and deposit and if they fixed what was wrong with this house, I never would have been scanning the classifieds and never would have seen our dream house that is now up for lease with option.

Here is the front of the house:

Front of Custer House

And here is the back:

There is a barn and pastures and HUGE back yard. The dogs can run and play and I don’t have to worry about them getting hit by a car. We might even get a horse down the road sometime.

We love the house and the location. It’s at the end of a LONG gravel drive.

I’m very excited!! Now if I had gotten upset with my current landlord and demanded that everything be fixed and fixed NOW, I wouldn’t have found our dream home. We would have stayed in this crooked house and not really been happy.

Next time something doesn’t go the way you planned, just roll with it and see what happens.

YOU Deserve Success!!
