Just Buy the Fish?

I’m sure you’ve heard the saying – “Give a man a fish – feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish – feed him for a lifetime”.

Here’s my take on that – I don’t want a handout so don’t give me a fish. I don’t want to have to do more work than is needed so don’t teach me how to fish. I’d rather go buy the fish.

Not everyone wants to learn the same things. For example, some people want to learn how the computer actually works. The want to learn programming language and know what all of that code in there means. MOST people just want to use the computer, so they buy software that will do the job they need to do. If you have windows software or apple software on your computer, you have chosen to not learn how to fish and you’ve bought the fish instead.

Some people may want to learn to hunt rather than to fish.

Time is our most valuable asset. In the book The 4-Hour Work Week, Timothy Ferriss teaches us that we must outsource some tasks if we ever want to get to the point where we CAN shorten our work week.
