I’ve listened to quite a few recorded conference calls recently. A few were recordings that I purchased as part of a membership to a website. During the call I hear the moderator (RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF WHAT THE GUEST IS SAYING) press the command to get the caller count!!! And it goes on the recording.
First of all, I’m amazed that any host would be that blatantly rude to their guest by not listening. They ask their guest a question. The guest begins to answer and the moderator then presses the command to see how many callers are on the line. This one particular moderator does it on almost every call and does it 5 or 6 times during the call. The caller count is generally 1 or 3. This person has a LOT of recorded calls on her site and is selling a membership to her site. Does she not listen to the recordings??? Can she not realize that others look at that as her not being credible because there are only an average of 2 callers on any of her conference calls.
Now, don’t get me wrong. I’ve done conference calls for one other person before. There’s nothing wrong with that. It happens when you are just starting out. HOWEVER, if you are recording the call for future sale or to give away, don’t advertise that there is only one caller on the line.
Second of all, it’s rude to the person who has purchased your audio or membership with archived audios or the person who you gave it away to on your website as a gift. The person is most likely listening to the call to hear the GUEST. You are telling your listeners that you don’t think your guest is interesting enough to just listen to them and not be checking caller counts and such.
If you give conference calls, go to http://nocostconference.com. Sign up for a free conference line and you will get a website where you can log in and see how many callers are on the line, an online button to record the conference, online mute and many more features that you can access right on the website. No more pressing a code and having that annoying “There are X other callers on the line” or “the conference is now muted” playing during your conference calls. And best of all, it’s FREE.
Think of your listeners. Stop checking the caller count. Let your listeners actually listen to you or your guests.
Maybe you’re just starting out or just uninformed. Either way it makes YOU look bad. If you are doing this on your recorded calls, you are sending the WRONG message to people you want to collect money from.
Get a free conference line with web control. It will be the best thing you ever did.
YOU Deserve Success!!!

Hi Roxanne,
I am one of those who would get tired of this sort of briech in conference line hosting edicate. Nothing screams, “Me, I’m important here, look at ME!”
Thank you for this free conferencing resource. What an awesome tool.
I appreciate you,
